Luke's Birth

TR;DR:
Name: Luke Stephen Bentley
Birth Date: October 25, 2014
Birth Time: 12:46p EST (1746 GMT)
Birth Weight: 6 lbs. 13 oz. (3.1 kg)
Birth Length: 20.5 in. (52.07 cm)

The Story (for those that want/need to cringe/rejoice with the horrors/joys of labor and birthing.)
People at my workplace had hoped and prayed that Luke would wait unit after 5:00p on the Friday that he was due. He obliged them; and almost with an extra 12 hours. At about 3:56a Saturday morning, Elizabeth woke me up saying her water broke. I called her father, and he started his drive over while we rushed around getting what things we had prepared. ^_^

The next few hours where filled mostly with waiting for me. Elizabeth was hooked up, tied down, stuck, pulled, prodded, striped, covered, arranged, re-arranged, every which-away. The plan was for her to give birth the way God intended, with the people He made to make drugs, painkillers, soft pillows, and other comforts and luxuries to ease the mother's suffering. The attempt to avoid a C-Section at most (but not all) costs. After a few hours of labor, an epidural, and another few hours of labor, Luke was gearing up.

Unfortunately, about that time, boom! Placental Abruption. The doctor told us afterwards that he could find no rhyme or reason it happened, but that it does happen every now and then. Luckily, we were already at the hospital when it happened, and they performed a c-section to save both my wife and son. Everyone is healing up now, and I'm changing all the diapers I can.
